About this event
"FDG in TAMAKI - Kumano Kodo World Heritage 20th Anniversary Commemoration -" is a Field Discovery Game (FDG) held in Tamaki Town, Mie Prefecture. FDG is an outdoor e-sport where participants use a provided map and a dedicated smartphone app to visit "Discovery Spots" set at historical and cultural heritage sites, competing for ranking based on scores earned within the time limit. Tamaki Town once flourished as a post town where pilgrims to Ise Jingu gathered at the junction of the Hase Kaido, Kumano Kodo, and Ise Honkaido highways; the event aims to discover the charms of the town by touring these historical and cultural heritage sites. Participants can explore the town like a game while experiencing Tamaki's rich history and nature. High school students and older are eligible to participate, while the Beginner Category and Family Category allow children from preschoolers to junior high school age to join when accompanied by a guardian. This event is held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Kumano Kodo's World Heritage registration, offering an opportunity to rediscover the region's charm.
