Jingoro Nishikawa Residence Special Public Opening Autumn 2026

The Jingoro Nishikawa Residence, which is normally closed to the public, will be specially opened in autumn 2026. This is a rare opportunity to tour the historic residence of Omi merchant "Futon no Nishikawa," boasting a history of about 460 years. In the special tour that includes the residence visit, participants meet at Hakuunkan and explore the Hachiman-bori canal and the Vories statue guided by the Volunteer Tourist Guide Association (the morning session does not include the town walking tour). Afterward, a mini-lecture on the history of Nishikawa will be held at the Nishikawa family residence, allowing visitors to experience the wisdom and lifestyle of Omi merchants through the residence tour. VR tours are available year-round.
