"Yawata Sports Carnival 2026" is an event aimed at promoting sports among citizens and fostering mutual interaction among residents. Taking the opportunity of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it provides a chance to become familiar with sports in the city. On the day, trial corners for a wide variety of sports will be set up, including baseball, soccer, basketball, rugby, volleyball, soft tennis, judo, kendo, baton twirling, ground golf, physical fitness tests, and the Active Child Program (exercise play). In addition, numerous food trucks and refreshment stalls offering an abundant menu will enliven the venue. Exhibitions introducing the activities of various sports organizations and flyer distributions will also take place. Of particular note is a volleyball clinic by Nobuhiko Mima, an accredited instructor of the Japan Volleyball Association. Targeting elementary school students and their parents/guardians, participants can experience passionate coaching from an instructor who contributes to spreading the sport and nurturing young talent. Furthermore, mini trains and inflatable play structures (slides) popular with children will appear, and visitors can enjoy mini trains with the cooperation of the Tanabe High School Railway Club. There is also a stamp rally where participants can win prizes, making for an enjoyable full-day experience.
