Kizugawa City 2026 Autumn Special Exhibition (Former Tomyoji Temple)

This is a special exhibition event where the usually non-public Standing Senju Kannon, Standing Juichimen Kannon, Standing Sho Kannon, Standing Fukukenjaku Kannon, and Standing Bato Kannon statues (all five designated as Prefectural Cultural Properties) are shown to the public. According to temple legend, Former Tomyoji Temple was founded by the monk Gyoki during the Nara period. The temple's early Edo period kuri (monks' living quarters) and five Buddhist statues, including the principal image, are enshrined in a storehouse, and on this occasion, visitors can view these precious Buddhist statues up close. The venue is located at 41 Tonamiterayama, Kamo-cho, Kizugawa City, Kyoto Prefecture, approximately an 11-minute walk from JR Yamatoji Line 'Kamo' Station. Opening hours are from 10:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. This event provides a valuable opportunity to experience the region's history and culture.
