About this event
At Sugawara Shrine in Sakai City, the 'Niiname-sai Festival' and 'Yakuso-sai Festival' will be held on Monday (national holiday), November 23, 2026 (Reiwa 8). The Niiname-sai will be conducted starting at 10:00 AM, and the Yakuso-sha Annual Festival will be held from 2:00 PM. In addition to ceremonial prayers at the rituals, various rites will be conducted, including the green bamboo sake ritual, distribution of wolfberry sake (kuki-shu), distribution of longevity zenzai sweet red bean soup, and distribution of sacred tigers (shinko). Using public transportation is recommended on the day, as no car or bicycle parking spaces are provided. Please note that prayers cannot be offered during the ritual times (9:45-10:30, 13:45-15:00). Sacred items and offerings are limited in quantity and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
