About this event
Colored by danjiri, yagura, and carried danjiri floats, the Izumisano Autumn Festival is a traditional autumn festival handed down in various areas across Izumisano City every October. It features the 'danjiri' known for its dynamic sharp turns called 'yarimawashi', the 'yagura' characterized by its unique movement and yagura-bushi folk songs, and the city's only 'carried danjiri' in the Oki district, which moves without wheels powered solely by human strength. With the sounds of drums, gongs, and flutes echoing, encountering different festival cultures in each area is a unique charm of Izumisano. The pulled danjiri are floats equipped with wooden wheels, with 'yarimawashi' being a major highlight. Children's danjiri will operate only on Sunday, October 11th. Making use of their two-wheeled mobility, yagura floats are pulled while weaving widely in time with the song or rocking up and down like a seesaw. The carried danjiri is the city's only precious danjiri that has no wheels and is carried directly by people, featuring a mechanical structure where the roof can be raised and lowered. Please come and experience the fever pitch of the autumn festival that envelops the town firsthand.
