About this event
This is a traditional Shinto ritual held every year on October 11th at Nagano Shrine in Kawachinagano City, Osaka Prefecture. It is a solemn festival in which sacred fire is lit on a giant torch (o-taimatsu) measuring 1.5 meters in diameter and about 5 meters in height, also known as the 'O-taimatsu Ritual.' This ritual is said to originate from local villagers lighting torches in the dark of night to signal the site of enshrinement so that the deities of the shrine would not lose their way upon arriving. At the climax of the festival, the blazing giant torch illuminates the night sky, creating a magical atmosphere. Through this ritual, visitors can connect with local history and faith.
