Japanese name:建水分神社秋まつり

About this event

At the shrine commonly known as Suibun Shrine, the sacred object (goshintai) is placed in a portable shrine (mikoshi) and transferred to the temporary resting site (otabisho) called Hie-no-mae. Nearly 20 danjiri festival floats from Chihayaakasaka Village, Tondabayashi City, and Kanan Town enter the shrine grounds, and the scenery of all danjiri gathered around the mikoshi is celebrated as the best in Kawachi. Afterward, a ceremonial ritual is conducted before the mikoshi, followed by each district's youth association performing and dedicating "Kawachi Niwaka" (improvised comedic sketches)—said to be the origin of Kamigata performing arts—from atop the danjiri stages. This festival expresses gratitude and celebration for the fruitful autumn harvest as a blessing from the great deity Takemikumari no Okami, transferring the divine spirit into a mikoshi that journeys in a divine procession to the otabisho (commonly known as Hie-no-mae) about 1 km below the shrine. Nearly 20 danjiri floats from parishioner districts across three municipalities (Tondabayashi City, Kanan Town, Chihayaakasaka Village) make their grand entrance, and the view of all danjiri assembled around the mikoshi is hailed as the finest in Kawachi. Afterward, rituals are performed before the mikoshi, and each district youth association dedicates and stages "Kawachi Niwaka" (improvised sketches), regarded as the roots of Kamigata entertainment, from atop the floats' stages. Furthermore, the danjiri floats are pulled around for a total of 3 days including the days before and after this entrance; since autumn festivals of neighboring parish shrines such as Mikukurumitama Shrine (Tondabayashi City) and Ichisuka Shrine (Kanan Town) fall on the same dates, during this period the entire surrounding area is enveloped in the aroma of harvested rice ears along with a festive autumn atmosphere.
