15th Cinema Paradise: Silent Film Screening with Katsudo Benshi

About this event

The '15th Cinema Paradise: Silent Film Screening with Katsudo Benshi' will be held at the Habikino City Living Culture Information Center (LIC Habikino). As a town that once hosted film studios, this regular event has been held since 2011 to promote film culture and revive buried historical heritage. The works to be screened this time are three films: 'Kunisada Chuji' (Akagiyama - Yamagataya) directed by Shozo Makino and starring Shojiro Sawada (released in 1924), 'Modern Kaidan 100,000,000 Yen' directed by Torajiro Saito and starring Tatsuo Saito (released in 1929), and 'Horosanmai' (A Wandering Life) directed by Hiroshi Inagaki and starring Chiezo Kataoka (released in 1928). Katsudo benshi (silent film narrator) Raiko Sakamoto will breathe new life into these precious silent films. Mr. Sakamoto won the Newcomer Award at the 75th (FY2024) Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prizes, and will surely captivate the audience with his outstanding storytelling. Doors open at 13:30, and the performance runs from 14:00 to 16:00. Preschool children are not admitted. Advance tickets are 1,500 yen, and same-day tickets cost 200 yen more. Ticket sales begin on Saturday, October 3 at 9:00.
