About this event

Kadoma City is reopening its Historical Archives under the new name "Kadoma History Museum." A commemorative event will be held on the opening day, Tuesday, August 18. Commemorative lectures will also be held on the weekend of the opening week. Exhibition Room B displays relics excavated from ruins within the city, including roof tiles and gorinto (five-ring pagodas) associated with the medieval temple "Fugen-ji." Exhibition Room A offers a clear overview of the city's history and cultural assets, along with projection mapping. Creative features such as pottery puzzles and pottery patterning experiences for children ensure enjoyment for both adults and children. Exhibition Room C reveals the transition of the town from the Edo period to modern times using materials from the museum's collection, featuring a section on the Shidehara family associated with former Prime Minister Kijuro Shidehara and an introduction corner for the Osaka Prefectural Historic Site "Den-Manda Tsutsumi." Commemorative events such as exhibition talks by curators, a screening of historic photos of Kadoma, photo opportunities with Garasuke, and a live shamisen performance by Erika Someyuki are also planned. On Saturday, August 22, commemorative lectures will be held, including "Connecting History to the Future: The Journey to the Museum Opening and Its Charms" by a curator, and "Revived! The 'Guardians of the Ancient Tombs': The Process from Discovery to Exhibition" by a member of the Japanese Archaeological Association.
