About this event
This is one of western Japan's largest steelpan music events, held at Tetsujin Plaza in Wakamatsu Park, Nagata-ku, Kobe City. The cheerful tones of the steelpan, a percussion instrument made from steel oil drums, resonate at the foot of the Tetsujin 28-go monument. In the morning, 9 classes from the Asta Shin-Nagata 'Steelpan School' take the stage in turn, and in the afternoon, steel bands gathered from all over Japan rotate through the stage. You can listen while standing to the sweet resonance that hardly sounds like striking metal. Entry and exit are free and unrestricted, so you can drop by while shopping at the arcade. Bands and orchestras assembled from across the country will present powerful ensemble performances, making it a day where you can fully savor the joy of music.
