About this event

The "Takagi Autumn Festival," held in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture on Sunday, October 11, 2026, is looking for mikoshi (portable shrine) carriers. Around 40 people participate every year, and many participants who experience the fun of the festival return the following year. Participants gather at Takagi Nishimachi Hachiman Shrine at 7:15 AM; happi coats are loaned out, so you can join in comfortable clothing. The procession starts with the shrine departure (miyadashi) at 8:00 AM, parading through 17 locations in the Takagi area to the chant of "Yoiyasa~~~." Passing through spots such as Sports Dome Kawaragi, TSUTAYA Yakushicho Store, and Takagi Elementary School, this is a valuable experience to tour familiar streets carrying a mikoshi. Breaks are scheduled approximately every 20 minutes, making it easy to participate even for those concerned about their physical stamina. Around 11:40 AM, there is a lunch break at Takagi Park, where rice balls and cup noodles are provided. Departing at 12:30 PM in the afternoon, the mikoshi heads from the south side of ACTA East Building toward the ACTA intersection, passing through the center of Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi. At 3:00 PM, the mikoshi arrives at Takagi Hachiman Shrine (miyairi) and disbands temporarily. From 5:00 PM, an appreciation party is held at Takagi Agricultural Hall. First-time participants and residents from outside the Takagi area are welcome; anyone of high school age or older can participate regardless of gender. You can join for the full day, participate for a short time like "just one section," or even join on the spot. A procession timetable is also provided, allowing you to stop by and carry the mikoshi at your preferred location and time.
