About this event
Held for the first time in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture—the hometown of Naomi Uemura—the "2026 Japan Adventure Forum" is an event to pass on the challenging spirit of adventurer Naomi Uemura, who achieved the world's first solo ascent of the highest peaks on five continents and a solo dog-sled journey to the North Pole, to the next generation, and to reflect on the importance of making one's one and only life shine. The forum consists of two parts: Part 1 (Forum), featuring keynote speeches and panel discussions, and Part 2 (Networking Session), where participants can exchange information. In Part 1, there will be screenings of documentary footage of Naomi Uemura, a keynote speech by actor Yoshie Ichige, and stories/reminiscences by Ken Hiroe, a friend from his university mountaineering club days. In addition, during the panel discussion featuring photographer Naoki Ishikawa, mountaineer Masatoshi Kuriaki, and international mountain guide Daisuke Sasaki, valuable firsthand stories will be shared under the theme "Facing Extreme Nature: What McKinley Taught Us." This is a forum where challengers and supporters resonate with each other, serving as a trigger to take a new step toward the future.
