About this event
The 'Starting with Shiogori... Shiogori Walk' held in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, is an approximately 4 km city walk gathering at Ogigahama and visiting sites such as the Former Shiogorihama Beach and Tsubudachi-oji. Shiogori is a purification ritual using seawater during the Kumano pilgrimage, and the seashore of Tanabe has long served as that place and as a departure point for new journeys. On this walk, visitors can experience the history and nature of Tanabe over an approximately 3-hour course visiting the SHIOGORI Monument, Former Shiogorihama Beach (Egawa Children's Park), Tsubudachi-oji, in front of Egawa Sange-ji Temples, Michiwake-ishi stone (Kitashinmachi), Aritoshi Shrine, and more. The goal is Tanabe City Machinaka Pocket Park, and participants receive an original towel and a fun frozen dessert as special perks. The event will be held in light rain but canceled in stormy weather, and advance application is required.
