About this event
Commemorating the 90th anniversary of Yoshino-Kumano National Park's designation, the typically closed treasure hall "Ryuhoden" will be specially open to the public for a limited time. The hall will exhibit numerous rarely seen sacred treasures and Buddhist statues, including the National Important Cultural Property "Diamond Realm Three-Dimensional Mandala Excavated from Nachi Sutra Mound." Additionally, on October 18, under the theme "Prayers from Kumano for World Peace," the first joint Saito Dai-Goma Fire Ritual will be solemnly performed by Kumano Shugendo practitioners alongside practitioners from Mt. Hiko Shugendo, one of Japan's three major Shugendo traditions. A special dedication musical performance by former THE BLUE HEARTS drummer Tetsuya Kajiwara in collaboration with conch horn (horagai) playing by yamabushi ascetic monks will also be held. This is a special opportunity to experience valuable cultural heritage and unique rituals.
