About this event
This is an ultramarathon where runners dash through the magnificent nature of the "Mine Akiyoshidai Geopark", which was certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark in April 2026. Participants can run while experiencing the beautiful scenery of Mine City, including the emerald green Beppu Benten Pond and the refreshing breezes of Akiyoshidai. The event aims to have runners enjoy beautiful landscapes created over 350 million years of history, taste delicious food nurtured in the geological land, and feel the warm hospitality of the people raised in the geo area. Two categories are offered: a 100 km division and a 43 km division, each with a designated time limit. As a participation prize, a T-shirt designed by world-renowned paper-cutting artist and Mine City native Shu Kubo will be provided. Finishers will receive a marble finisher medal and one photo taken by a professional photographer. Shigeru Aburaya, who placed 5th in the men's marathon at the Atlanta Olympics, will serve as the event ambassador.
