About this event
Held as a commemorative project for the 20th anniversary of the municipal organization of Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, "Dance Theater Connecting to the Future" is an artistic stage sending a message from the sea to the future through dance. Produced by Eriko Maeno, a Tokyo-born director/choreographer and Mitoyo City Local Vitalization Cooperator. The performance consists of two parts. In Part 1, approximately 25 members of "MITOYO DANCE CREATORS!", a cross-generational local dance club composed of elementary students and elderly residents of Mitoyo City, will showcase contemporary dance utilizing local resources. In Part 2, "AMA-Perlentaucherin" will be performed, fusing dance, music, and video projection themed around female free-divers (ama). Against the backdrop of a stage transformed into an underwater world, professional dancers active in the Tokyo metropolitan area will perform, accompanied by music from Thorsten Quaeschning, member of legendary German band Tangerine Dream, creating a fantastical oceanic world. Tickets are 1,000 yen in advance (1,500 yen on the day), and students high school age or younger are admitted free of charge.
