About this event
The "Ikishima Hachimangu Autumn Festival" held in Shodoshima Town is a traditional autumn festival held every year on October 13 at Ikishima Hachiman Shrine (Shikai District). This festival is known as one of the Taikodai (drum float) dedication events held in autumn throughout Shodoshima. A notable feature is the sight of men powerfully carrying the drum float, strikingly decorated with what looks like stacked red cushions, to dedicate it to Hachiman-san. Another interesting point is seeing the differences in dedication styles by district, such as chants and the way happi coats are worn. During the festival season, many people gather as an autumn tradition on Shodoshima, allowing you to directly experience local culture and traditions.
