The Regular Bullfighting Tournament "Autumn Basho," held at the Uwajima Municipal Bullring, is an event where you can witness intense battles up close as giant bulls weighing over 1 ton clash against each other. The rough breathing of the bulls, the shouts of the sekko (bull handlers), and the dull thud of horns colliding echo through the venue, sweeping spectators into a whirlpool of excitement. The heated battles of the bulls unfolding in a 20-meter diameter ring offer a valuable opportunity to experience traditional culture unique to Uwajima. Doors open at 10:00, and matches take place from 12:00 to around 14:00. General admission for adults and high school students is 2,500 yen in advance and 3,000 yen on the day; admission is free for junior high school students and younger. Discounted rates apply to seniors aged 65 and over and persons with disabilities. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale approximately 1 month prior to the tournament. Free shuttle buses operate from Uwajima Bus Center and in front of JR Uwajima Station, providing convenient access to the venue.
