Kamijima Town Autumn Festival Schedule 2026: Yuge, Hikino and Myojin Districts

In Kamijima Town, autumn festivals are held across various districts when autumn arrives. In the Hikino and Myojin districts of Yuge, an autumn festival is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026. This festival is a traditional event in which all generations participate, with children playing the danjiri drums and adults lifting mikoshi (portable shrines) and danjiri (festival floats) to liven up the atmosphere. In the Hikino and Myojin districts, children from the 5th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of junior high school participate in the festival, gathering at the district community center to practice. Centered on the toyaban (festival organizing duty team) who take charge of preparing and organizing the festival, adult volunteers in their 30s to 60s ride atop the danjiri to instruct the drumming. During practice, tires and drumsticks (bachi) are used as they practice drumming while learning the festival songs. Local residents cooperate and carry forward the tradition to make the festival a lively event.
