Nara River Riverside Imotaki Taro Stew Gathering
Japanese name:奈良川河川敷いもたき
📅 Fri, Sep 11, 2026 - Fri, Oct 2, 2026
About this event
The "Nara River Riverside Imotaki," an autumn tradition in Kihoku Town, will be held again this year. Why not spend a long autumn evening enjoying the bounties of the mountains and rivers while listening to the beautiful murmur of the stream? The provided imotaki pot is packed with taro, chicken, konjac, eggs, thick fried tofu, chikuwa fish cakes, and mochimaru rice cakes, with a menu featuring locally harvested river crabs from Kihoku also available. In addition, you can enjoy powerful taiko drum performances by "Kai," a taiko troupe active both inside and outside the town, as well as dances by the Fumoto Kagura Preservation Society. In case of rain, the event will take place inside the Hiromi Gymnasium next to the venue, but it may be canceled if weather warnings are issued. Advance reservations are required, accepted for parties of 2 or more. Please make your reservation by 17:00 on the Friday of the week prior to your visit. Please bring your own drinks and take full responsibility for disposing of any trash you bring in.
