About this event
Held at the Shimanto River in Shimanto City, Kochi Prefecture—often referred to as Japan's last pristine stream—the 22nd Shimanto Citizens Festival Evening Fireworks Display is an event that concludes the citizens festival heralding the arrival of summer to the Little Kyoto of Nakamura. Combining music and fireworks, approximately 6,000 fireworks, including starmines and multicolored shells, are launched vigorously without a pause, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The vivid fireworks reflecting on the surface of the Shimanto River captivate onlookers with their elegance. Following the excitement of the Shimanto Citizens Festival with events such as the Nakamura Dance and the Shimanto Lantern Float Parade, fireworks launched from the Shimanto Riverbed near the Aka-Tekkyo (Red Iron Bridge) color the summer night sky.
