Shimanto River Flower Journey: Nyuta Willow Grove Red Spider Lilies
Japanese name:四万十川花紀行 入田ヤナギ林 曼珠沙華
📅 Tue, Sep 15, 2026 - Wed, Sep 30, 2026
About this event
In the willow grove of Nyuta, Shimanto City, the red spider lilies (Manjushage) reach their peak bloom in autumn. While strolling through the natural willow grove stretching about 2 km along the Shimanto River, visitors can enjoy the scenery of red flowers dotting the spaces between the trees. Illuminated by sunlight filtering through the trees, the red flowers stand out vividly in the shadows, revealing a different appearance with every step. Instead of an intense single shade of red, blending with green plants creates a more natural landscape. The rustic scenery, not overly altered by human touch, is perfect for walks and photography. The naturally blooming red spider lilies possess a unique charm, letting visitors feel the autumn flavor typical of Shimanto while harmonizing with tranquility.
