81st Fukuoka Prefecture Art Exhibition (Kenten)

Organized by the Fukuoka Prefecture Art Exhibition Executive Committee, the "81st Fukuoka Prefecture Art Exhibition (Kenten)" is an open-call exhibition that broadly invites works from Fukuoka residents and showcases their outstanding achievements. Submissions are invited across seven divisions: Japanese Painting, Western Painting, Sculpture, Crafts, Calligraphy, Photography, and Design. The entry application and artwork delivery period is from Tuesday, July 14, to Sunday, August 2, 2026 (Reiwa 8), with specific delivery dates varying by division and submission method. The results of selected works will be published on the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art website at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 (Reiwa 8), and applicants will also be notified by mail. The exhibition presents selected and prize-winning works from the open-call division alongside works by Fukuoka Art Association members submitted to the members' division. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, September 1, to Sunday, September 27, 2026 (Reiwa 8) at the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art (5-2-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City). A traveling exhibition is also scheduled. Entry fees are 5,000 yen for the first piece by general applicants, 3,500 yen for a second piece in the same division, 3,000 yen per piece for university, junior college, and vocational school students, and 1,000 yen per piece for the high school generation. The high school generation refers to students enrolled in high schools, the upper secondary course of secondary education schools, or the high school department of special needs schools, as well as individuals of equivalent age not enrolled in these institutions (born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2011). Students are required to present a student ID or certificate of enrollment at the reception desk.
