About this event

Held every year from September 21 to 23 at Miyajidake Shrine in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the Autumn Grand Festival is a traditional festival to give thanks for autumn's bountiful harvest and pray for good crops, family safety, and business prosperity. The biggest highlight of this festival is the gorgeous Goshinkosai procession extending about 2 km from Miyaji Beach to Miyajidake Shrine, where a procession reminiscent of a Heian dynasty picture scroll marches along. The Goshinkosai is divided into the O-kudari and O-nobori processions, each offering a distinct atmosphere. In addition, on September 22, the middle day of the festival, the 'Wishes Come True! Good Luck Fireworks Festival' is held, further enlivening the festival atmosphere with fireworks coloring the night sky. During the festival period, many visitors gather to enjoy performances on the special stage, food trucks, and a market. If visiting by car, checking parking in advance is important as the primary parking lot is unavailable during the festival. For public transportation, bus access from JR Fukuma Station is convenient.
