The annual special event 'FY2026 Chikugo River Basin Decorated Kofun Simultaneous Public Opening' will be held, allowing visitors to tour decorated kofun (ancient burial mounds) dotted throughout the Chikugo River basin all at once. This is a special opportunity to directly view and explore the stone chamber interiors of precious decorated kofun, which are normally restricted to protect cultural properties. Featuring shared regional motifs such as concentric circles and boats, visitors can compare the patterns inside the stone chambers all at once. On the day of the event, a 'Decorated Pattern Stamp Rally' enjoyable for both adults and children will also take place, where stamping the pattern stamps placed at each kofun onto a dedicated sheet lets you complete your own 'original stone chamber.' Exclusive prizes are also prepared for those who visit all participating kofun except for Goroyama Kofun and Garandoya Kofun. Perfect for an autumn drive or stroll, this event lets you experience historical romance while exploring the Chikugo River basin area surrounded by rich nature.
