Known as one of Japan's three major fighting festivals, the "Imari Ton-Ten-Ton Festival" features spectacular "battles" as its main highlight. To the beating sound of drums chanting "Ton-Ten-Ton," massive Danjiri floats and Mikoshi portable shrines violently clash against each other. At the climax of the festival, the "Kawa-otoshi" (dropping into the river) takes place in the Imari River, captivating visitors with its heroic sight. This festival is a long-standing traditional culture passed down as the Goshinko-sai festival of Imari Shrine, allowing visitors to feel the energy and vitality of the local people firsthand. Because the battle spots of the festival become very crowded, visitors with small children are advised to prioritize safety by keeping a distance from the Danjiri floats while enjoying the festival.
