About this event

Saga Prefecture is known as a "treasure trove of traditional performing arts," and Kashima City in particular preserves many traditional performing arts. As an event unique to Kashima City, this festival brings together traditional performing arts handed down in various areas inside and outside the city, such as Menburyu and lion dances, to be performed on one stage. "Menburyu," in which dancers wear demon masks and dance heroically while beating drums, is a representative folk performing art of Saga Prefecture, dedicated to local guardian deities during autumn festivals in Kashima City to pray for bountiful harvests and fertility of grains. This year's festival will be held at Kashima Civic Cultural Hall SAKURAS, offering a precious opportunity to experience the local culture firsthand.
