About this event
A dedication ritual of "Asaura Men-furyu," designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Kashima City, will take place. A notable feature of this furyu dance is that it includes 14 musical pieces, which is more than the men-furyu dances performed in other districts. The dedication begins around 8:30 in the morning at the Furuyu Reservoir in Kami-Asaura, after which the performers tour the district, performing dedications at Kuse Shrine at noon and at Genkoji Temple in the evening. In particular, the sight of the red spider lilies blooming on the reservoir bank alongside the men-furyu dance attracts many photographers. The dedication held amid the quiet mountain landscape dotted with thatched-roof houses is one of its charming highlights.
