About this event

"KUMAMOTO Taiwan Festival 2026," held in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, is an event where visitors can experience authentic Taiwanese gourmet food, culture, and entertainment. Approximately 500 Taiwanese lanterns will decorate the venue, creating a magical space of light. In the evening, the light and sound show "KUMAMOTO Light of Hope," where lanterns and music synchronize, will be held to illuminate the city and hearts. During the day, authentic performances by the professional folk performing arts group "Jiexinzong," visiting Japan from Taiwan, will be showcased. About 60 stalls will gather, allowing visitors to enjoy live cooking demonstrations of classic night market gourmet foods such as xiaolongbao, lu rou fan (braised pork rice), and da ji pai (large fried chicken cutlet), as well as Taiwanese tea, retro miscellaneous goods, and night market games. In addition, in the recovery support area featuring stalls from disaster-affected areas in Kumamoto Prefecture, visitors can support the region through local specialty products and gourmet food. A message board for visitors will also be set up, allowing people to convey their feelings of gratitude to Taiwan.
