The "Shogi Japan Series JT Professional Official Tournament / TableMark Children's Tournament" is the largest-scale shogi event in Japan, hosted by the Japan Shogi Association and regional newspaper companies. In the fiscal year 2026 Kumamoto tournament, a knockout tournament featuring 12 professional shogi players belonging to the Japan Shogi Association will be conducted with all games played publicly before an audience. At the Kumamoto tournament, a match between Sota Fujii, JT Cup Champion, and the winner of the first round second game (Masuda 8-dan vs Yashiro 8-dan) is scheduled. In addition, a shogi tournament for elementary school children and younger will be held, divided into a Lower Grades division (3rd grade and below, including preschoolers) and an Upper Grades division (4th to 6th grade) for knockout tournament matches. At the venue, corners such as instructional games and tsumeshogi (shogi puzzles) will also be set up, offering an event where visitors can interact with and fully experience the charm of shogi throughout the entire day. The TableMark Children's Tournament is the largest children's shogi tournament in Japan where kids can enjoy shogi for a full day; participation is free, but prior registration is required. There will be plenty of events on the day, with introductions to the daily tournament schedule, rules, and more.
