68th Kumamoto Arts and Culture Festival Opening Stage: Mahler / Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection'

Marking the opening of the Kumamoto Arts and Culture Festival, Mahler's Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection' will be performed. Marking the 10-year milestone since the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, this concert was planned as an opportunity to reflect on the recovery journey so far and connect hope for the future through music. A specially formed orchestra and choir gathered through public audition will join forces to perform this magnificent piece. In this special year, it will be a performance where people can deeply feel the significance of gathering together, creating music as one, and sharing it. Please enjoy this moment at the venue to hold all those affected by the disaster in your thoughts, reaffirm bonds between people through music, and take steps forward toward the future of Kumamoto. Conducted by Ken Takaseki, featuring soprano Miku Yasukawa and mezzo-soprano Michiko Hayashi.
