[Cancelled] Kashima Water Town Festival 2026

The "Kashima Water Town Festival", a popular autumn festival held every year in Kashima Town, was scheduled to take place in 2026; however, its cancellation has been announced due to the impact of the "Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake" that occurred on July 28, Reiwa 8 (2026). Originally, considering extreme summer heat and heatstroke prevention, the schedule was moved from August to October, and it was planned to be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, during the comfortable autumn season. At this festival, visitors could enjoy a diverse program including performances of local Kashima Taiko drumming, brass band music by junior high school students, dance shows, and stages by local artists, with the fireworks illuminating the night sky also being a famous attraction. In addition, stalls were set up by the local Chamber of Commerce, JA, and AEON Mall Kumamoto, making it beloved as an autumn event for families.
