About this event

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Kumamoto Earthquake, Mashiki Town is promoting the use of the 'Four Peaks of Mashiki' (Shiroyama, Asagiyama, Funanoyama, and Iidayama) for mountain climbing and other activities in coordination with the preservation and maintenance of earthquake fault lines. In this symposium, professional adventure racer Yoki Tanaka, experts in geology and landscape management, and an outdoor shop owner will be invited to discuss disaster prevention and mitigation through activities under the theme of 'What we do while having fun on a daily basis unknowingly leads to disaster prevention and mitigation.' It connects the joy of nature with disaster prevention and mitigation from the 'three-in-one' perspective of the 'Four Peaks of Mashiki' as Mashiki Town's valuable regional resources brought about by earth activities such as the Futagawa fault zone and volcanoes, and the usefulness of mountain climbing and outdoor knowledge and gear during disasters. In the panel discussion, all speakers will talk about future prospects under the theme 'Toward a future living together with the blessings of earthquakes and volcanoes.' Limited sales of original 'Four Peaks of Mashiki' goods will also take place in the venue lobby.
