Grand Prix Concert 2026: Motus Quartet

About this event

This is a concert by the Vienna-based "Motus Quartet," which won 1st Prize in Section 1 (String Quartet) of the 12th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition. You can enjoy the inherited Viennese tradition and superb timbre through their polished ensemble at Mashiki Town Cultural Hall. The Motus Quartet is a talented group that studied under Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and also received guidance from Gyorgy Kurtag. In addition to their victory at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in May 2026, they have won numerous awards at international competitions in the past. In this performance, Mozart's "String Quartet No. 19," Webern's "Langsamer Satz for String Quartet," and Brahms's "String Quartet No. 2," among others, are scheduled to be performed. It will be a precious opportunity to experience the well-coordinated ensemble of the four musicians and the rich tone woven by their individualities.
