Sanyutei Koichiro Mashiki Yose + Workshop

In Mashiki Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, 'Mashiki Yose + Workshop' produced by Koichiro Sanyutei, the Reconstruction Ambassador of Mashiki Town, will be held. This two-day event offers a full experience of the charm of Rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling). On the first day, Saturday, October 31, a 'Rakugo Experience Workshop' for elementary and junior high school students will take place at the Mashiki Town Community Living Center Kataru. Here, participants will be provided with an opportunity to experience and connect with the world of Rakugo through Rakugo quizzes, short comedic stories (kobanshi), and comedic improvisation (ogiri). This workshop is free of charge and available on a first-come, first-served basis. On the second day, Sunday, November 1, the 'Mashiki Yose' will be held at the Mashiki Town Cultural Center. At this yose, attendees can enjoy Rakugo performed by master storytellers including the 7th generation Enraku Sanyutei, a heavyweight in the Rakugo world, as well as a musical performance by music entertainer KEIKO. It will be a precious opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to share the depth and joy of Rakugo.
