About this event
Boasting approximately 460 years of history and tradition, this tournament aims to pass down and permanently preserve the traditional culture of 'Tsurusaki Odori', which is designated as a National Selected Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Dancers clad in colorful, gorgeous costumes form a circle and dance along to the melodies of transverse flutes and kokyu flutes riding the cool breeze across the Ono River, accompanied by traditional chants (kudoki). It is truly a magnificent, one-night living picture scroll of flowers, captivating the hearts of the visiting audience. Tsurusaki Odori features two distinct dances: the gracefully gentle 'Sarumaru Dayu' and the brisk-tempo 'Saemon'.
