About this event

"Taketa Takigi Noh," held in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture, is a special one-night-only performance staged on the floating Noh stage in front of Mikazukiiwa (Crescent Rock). It will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 (Reiwa 8), with doors opening at 16:00 and the performance starting at 17:00. Bonfires are lit as dusk falls, creating a profound, ethereal world with the fire and moon reflected on the water's surface. Hosted by the Taketa Takigi Noh Executive Committee and the General Incorporated Association Shiotsu Noh no Kai, it features Noh and Maibayashi performances by the Kita school, as well as Kyogen by the Okura school. The program includes the Maibayashi "Ataka," the Kyogen "Kaki Yamabushi," and the Noh play "Hashi Benkei." In the event of rain, the venue will change to Grandts Taketa Rentaro Hall, or the performance will be rescheduled for a later date. Tickets are available as SS Seats, Reserved Seats, and Non-reserved Seats, with prices varying by seat type. Venue access is about 5 minutes by car from JR Hohi Main Line Bungo-Taketa Station. Combining the event with a stroll around the Oka Castle Ruins and the castle town is also recommended.
