About this event
This is a walking event utilizing the 'Xavier's Path,' where missionary Francis Xavier is said to have passed through Hiji Town on his way to Funai during the Sengoku period. While touring scenic historical courses, participants can enjoy nature, history, and interactions with local people. The event features Course A (approx. 15 km) passing through Hokkeji Hana Park where chestnut tiger butterflies (Asagimadara) visit, Toyooka Fishing Port, and Jogasaki Coast; Course B (approx. 10 km) passing through Yamada Spring Water (one of the prefecture's top spring waters) and Hiji Martyrdom Park; and Course C (approx. 5 km), an easy route heading down from central Hiji Town to Jogasaki Coast and passing the Hiji Castle Ruins. Anyone in good health can participate, though elementary school students and younger must be accompanied by a guardian. The participation fee is 1,000 yen for high school students and older, 500 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschool children.
