Kagoshima Kinko Bay Summer Night Grand Fireworks Festival

Started to mark the millennium, this is a quintessential summer tradition in Kagoshima and one of Kyushu's largest fireworks festivals, held against the world-class natural backdrop of Sakurajima, one of the world's leading active volcanoes, and the calm waters of Kinko Bay. Every year, around 15,000 fireworks illuminate the summer night sky with elaborate productions such as rapid-fire 1-shaku shells and the simultaneous launch of two 2-shaku shells. Sightseeing information before and after the fireworks display is also provided, including an introduction to 'CUTE', which is convenient for touring Kagoshima City and Sakurajima, recommended shops to taste Kagoshima's famous specialty 'Shirokuma' (shaved ice), dining and hot spring information to enjoy while basking in the afterglow of the fireworks, and special reopening information for 'Io World Kagoshima Aquarium'.
