About this event
Organized by the Satsumasendai City Green Tourism Promotion Council, the 'Rice Harvesting Experience (Hand-Harvesting & Sun-Drying) / Vegetable Harvesting' will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026. In this experience, you can try traditional hand-harvesting of rice and 'kakeboshi' sun-drying of the harvested rice bundles. In addition, you can enjoy harvesting seasonal vegetables. The participation fee is 2,500 yen per person (ages 4 and up), which includes the activity and lunch (tonjiru pork miso soup and onigiri rice balls). The meeting place is Nakakoba Farm (12641 Uranona, Iriki-cho, Satsumasendai, Kagoshima), and participants should bring comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for movement, as well as drinks. Participation is open from age 4, and children of junior high school age or younger must be accompanied by a guardian. Applications open at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will be accepted until Tuesday, October 6. The capacity is 20 participants, with a minimum required participant count of 10. Payment will be collected on-site on the day of the event. As this is a seasonal activity, details are subject to change.
