Reviving the traditional "Hachigatsu Odori" passed down in the Katsuno settlement of Yamato Village, Kagoshima Prefecture, the "Kitobare Odori" is a festival where the local younger generation takes the lead in passing on traditional culture. Between dances, young men energetically run laps holding "Kitobare flags" in a performance called "Hanaguruma," adding even more excitement to the festival. This festival is a precious opportunity to experience the rich traditional culture of the Katsuno settlement, allowing visitors to feel the passion and vibrancy of the local community. It is traditionally held between Arasetsu and Shibasashi, on a Saturday in mid-September.
