About this event
The 41st Kitanakagusuku Festival, held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Shiosai Koen in Kitanakagusuku Village, Okinawa Prefecture, is a handmade, community-participation event. The main program on the first day is the kumiodori theater piece Shushin Kaneiri, starring Nakagusuku Wakamatsu, who has ties to the Adaniya district. Key highlights include the changing emotions of the woman, and the movements of Nakagusuku Wakamatsu and the young monks. Starting in fiscal year 2021 (Reiwa 3), performers have been recruited from residents of Kitanakagusuku Village, showcasing the fruits of their extensive practice. As per tradition, fireworks marking the festival's finale will be launched at 20:30, gracefully coloring the night sky. Stalls will also be set up at the venue, offering various booths such as local specialty products, food sales, and inflatable bounce houses for children.
