At Nishikiyama Tenmangu Shrine in Nopporo Yoyogicho, Ebetsu City, Hokkaido, the 'Nishikiyama Tenmangu Shrine Autumn Grand Festival' will be held over two days on Wednesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 17, 2026. In addition to the Yoimiya-sai (eve festival), Grand Festival ceremony, and Mikoshi Togyo Junkou (portable shrine procession), open-air festival stalls and dedicatory performances are scheduled within the shrine grounds. Dedicatory performances on Wednesday the 16th will feature Miharashidai Yutakataiko, Ms Crew, and the MAKI Kayou Show. On Thursday the 17th, the Tokunari Kayou Show, Chanbara-shu Gado, and Kazu Sakuraba Kayou Show will be presented. The portable shrine procession will tour the Nopporo area from 9:30 to around 17:00 on Thursday the 17th. Open-air stalls are scheduled to operate from around 10:00 to 20:00 on both days. As there is no parking for worshipers at Nishikiyama Tenmangu Shrine during the festival period, using public transportation is recommended. This festival is a community-rooted traditional event where visitors can experience the pioneer history of the Nopporo Tondenhei (colonial troops) and the divine virtues of Sugawara no Michizane, known as the deity of learning.
