Held to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the opening of the Sapporo Science Center, "Enjoy with Parents and Kids! First Time at the Science Museum! Opening Memorial Appreciation Day 2026" is an all-day event for the whole family to enjoy. Preschoolers are very welcome, and the event is held with the purpose of letting parents and children visiting the science center for the first time experience the fun of science. On the day, there will be a workshop to make umbrella plastic bag rockets powered by air pressure, and a special science show "Science Illusion" to learn scientific principles with fun. In addition, panel displays of "Science Trivia Related to 45" connected to the 45th opening anniversary will be featured, along with hands-on corners by floor supporters where visitors can actually touch and enjoy inverted spinning tops, CD gyros, and more. Furthermore, photo spots where you can take commemorative photos wearing lab coats or space suits will appear. The "Science Center Legend General Election," introducing exhibits present since the museum's opening and voted on by visitors, will also be held. In the planetarium, special screenings enjoyable for parents and children will take place, including programs that can be enjoyed starting from age 0 without worrying about crying. A special time will also be provided to take photos of auroras, starry skies, and more inside the planetarium, where photography is usually not allowed. There are also astronomy consultation corners where you can listen to talks about stars and space from astronomy instructors, as well as a program to observe daytime stars through telescopes. For the exhibition rooms and events inside the planetarium, a separate admission fee is required for high school students and older, but participation in the event itself is free.
