About this event

Held at the Toyohira River in central Sapporo, 'Kawami 2026' is a waterfront culture creation project aimed at fostering Sapporo's native 'river-viewing culture' and establishing a new summer tradition. Over the 10 days from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, centered along the left bank of Horohira Bridge on the Toyohira River (Chuo Ward side), a new waterfront culture will be broadcast from the Toyohira River where urban life and nature coexist. At the event, visitors can enjoy various drinks and Hokkaido-specific cuisine at the Lemon Sour Garden while viewing the magical illuminations of Horohira Bridge. The Food Truck Village features 9 to 12 food trucks daily, allowing visitors to enjoy gourmet food and scenery in the open space beneath the bridge. Furthermore, participatory activities such as hands-free BBQ, Mölkky tournaments, and paper airplane contests are well-appointed, making it easy to enjoy with family, friends, or after work. At night, Horohira Bridge is illuminated in blue-green, creating a mystical landscape distinct from the daytime. Inflatable bounce houses are also open for free every day, packed with plans enjoyable for everyone from children to adults. 'Kawami 2026' is not just an event, but aims to pass down the Toyohira River, a treasure of Sapporo, to the future as a casual 'place to belong' extending from citizens' daily lives.
