51st Shiroishi Ward Furusato Festival

Held annually since 1976 (Showa 51) as a place to convey the charm, history, and traditions of Shiroishi Ward, this is a major event for the area. The 51st edition will be held at the Sapporo Convention Center. Traditional festivities are scheduled, including appearances by the "Katakura Teppotai" matchlock troop—which inherits gunnery and martial arts from the retainers of the Katakura clan, lords of Shiroishi Castle in the Sendai Domain—as well as the Shiroishi Ondo parade procession. In addition, the concurrently held "Children's Yume Carnival" offers activities for young children, providing entertainment suitable for a wide range of generations. It is a festival where visitors can experience the warm atmosphere unique to Shiroishi Ward, created together by local community groups and residents.
