The Hokkaido Marathon is the only authentic full marathon event held in summer in Japan. With a time limit of 6 hours, it partially adopts the course where the world's top athletes competed in the summer of 2021. Entry registration via the official tournament app begins on Sunday, March 29 from 18:00 to Tuesday, March 31 at 18:00, while entry registration on the official tournament website begins on Tuesday, March 31 at 18:00. Participation information will be notified by email in late July. Check-in and athlete bib distribution will take place at Odori Park 8-chome on Friday, August 28 from 13:00 to 20:00, and Saturday, August 29 from 10:00 to 20:00. There will be no check-in on the day of the race. The official tournament record booklet is scheduled to be shipped in mid-to-late September. Elite athlete entry is accepted until 23:59 on Monday, June 8, requiring qualification as a 2026 JAAF (prefectural athletics association) registered athlete meeting specific qualifying times. The qualifying time validity period is from January 1, 2024 to June 8, 2026. As a paid option, a Nickname/Name Athlete Bib (880 yen incl. tax) is also offered. This bib allows up to 7 characters (full-width or half-width) and must be paid alongside the entry fee. Various projects are underway with official tournament supporters, including collaboration recipes by 'Enaga,' an introduction to 'Plogging Japan Association,' and the release of the serial novel 'Northern Runners!' by Akiko Kawasaki. Related events will also be held, such as the 'Hokkaido Marathon Plogging Project supported by Yotsuba' and 'Asahi Inovex Presents Hokkaido Marathon 2026 Winning Run.' In addition, sales of the special 'CHUMS x Hokkaido Marathon 2026' collaboration T-shirt and a triple-name T-shirt with Takaya Mitsuka will be featured. Late entry for 'Sapporo 30K' will also be accepted on the official tournament app.
