
About this event
"Tour de Tohoku 2026" is a cycling event aimed at supporting the reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and passing down the memory of the disaster to the future. Starting in 2025, it is reborn as a new event. This edition will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, starting at Ishinomaki Senshu University or Kesennuma Naiwan Plaza, and finishing at Ishinomaki Senshu University. The total participant capacity is 2,400 people. Six course options are available: the 180 km "Kesennuma Otani Coast Fondo" from Ishinomaki, the 130 km "Minamisanriku Fondo" from Ishinomaki, the 100 km "Kitakami Fondo" from Ishinomaki, the 95 km "Kesennuma One-Way Fondo" from Kesennuma, the 80 km "Higashimatsushima Fondo" from Ishinomaki, and the 65 km "Onagawa/Ogatsu Fondo" from Ishinomaki. The event is organized by the Tour de Tohoku Association and Kahoku Shimpo Publishing Co., and co-organized by Miyagi Prefecture, Sendai City, Ishinomaki City, Kesennuma City, Higashimatsushima City, Onagawa Town, Minamisanriku Town, and Sanriku Kahoku Shimpo Co. The official theme song of the event is "To You 100 Years From Now" (100-nen Saki no Anata e) by Rake.
