The "Higashimatsushima Autumn Festival 2026," held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, is a new festival held in autumn after the "Higashimatsushima Summer Festival" changed its name and season. Centered on the color blue, symbolic of Higashimatsushima City as the "Blue Town," the highlight of the festival will be an aerobatic practice flight by the Blue Impulse against the scenery of Oku-Matsushima, the ocean, and the blue sky. The venue will feature stage performances, street performances, the Hachitaka mikoshi (portable shrine) parade, and a tug-of-war competition. For the festival finale, fireworks launched from Matsushima Air Base will illuminate the night sky. As the entire venue is dyed in blue, visitors can fully enjoy the festival by wearing blue attire. Additionally, at the "Higashimatsushima Umaimon Area," which brings together local food manufacturers and restaurants, visitors can savor local delicacies. There will also be sales of limited Blue Impulse T-shirts to liven up the festival, as well as recruitment of performers and stall vendors. It has excellent access, just a 1-minute walk from JR Senseki Line Yamoto Station.
